Men-trend (maintain?) Yourself

The share of men's clothing in the fashion industry has always remained a stagnant percent of below 20 as compared to 60% of women, and 30% of kids' wear (average from all the estimated data available). The basics has always been selling generously than the trendy clothing when it comes to the darker sex. It is only fair to say that dressing up for men has always been easier but dressing well, a lot more challenging.
Hey girls and guys, I'm back with the post I promised weeks ago and I can't help but apologize for the delay. I've selected some men ideal for this post, and these are what I got out from the guys who dress not only for the ladies, but for themselves too.

Throwback: Ootd: Delhi Mizo Kut 2013

Hello people.
I'm back on board with a not so recent photo-shoot we had on the occasion of Delhi Mizo Kut 2013, one of the biggest festival for the Mizos staying in the capital. We are ideally suppose to wear traditional, but I live away from home, so I excused myself. All I could effort was this neckpiece, thihna (pronounced, thri-hna) borrowed from a friend. Here are some of the better pictures shot.

Sarah- Bold and Oriental

Happy Birthday to you...
Happy Birthday to dear Sarah... :)

This girl and me were friends when we were small girls. We met again when she joined the same school as mine in 2010. We passed the 12th standard together. She and I stuck like glue in school. We were completely opposite- I did most of the talking, and that made us good because she hated talking so she did most of the listening. There was I thing we had in common though- Fashion.

Hello November!

"You see, love at first is summertime,
That's when you think that everything's fine,
No one ever thinks it's gonna end.
But when things go wrong and winter comes,
You're gonna need to run to someone,
Left alone, you'll just freeze up again.
But you should know, when it gets too cold,
You're not alone, I'll melt the snow..."

NIFT Delhiites go Ethnic

Heyo Folks. I've been off the radar since late, and I apologize to the few but sincere readers who visit my blog regularly. I'm socially active with so many activities outside college, (church choir and cultural society) that I hardly got time for anything else. I couldn't find time for myself either, hardly dressed up or anything, so the Dusshera Mela 2013, NIFT Delhi was the perfect opportunity to spring back.

Held on the 9th of October, it was a night when every Niftian got eager to dress there ethnic best and dance to the craziest Bollywood beats and of course, the Dandiya. Several stalls were put up by the students, the portable Paanwaala being a hit. And it goes without saying, the outfits were incredible. Here are a few out of the many outfits I spotted standing out in the fashionable crowd.

Throwback

Heyo. I'm done with my mid-terms. Some subjects were a blast and sucked up some. But thankful, nevertheless, that I could give all my exams with good health. Most people here in Delhi are down with Dengue, so please take care. Always in my prayers.
I'm here tonight with just a simple outfit post.

Stone Age: Carrying On the Legend

The caftan that you see me wearing here is more than two decades years old. Yes, it existed before I came into this world :P It belonged to my aunt, my mom's eldest sister, who's now 50+years of age. She wore it when she was in her 20s... 1970s. Yes, I'm relieving the moment.

Don't turn off the Lights

I know Enrique's song just popped into your head reading the Title didn't it, eh? HiHi
I have this obsession of taking pictures of nice clothes, or any object as a matter of fact, at low-light as compared to day-light. I love the contrast in the pictures. I've posted similar themed pictures in Ray of Hope. This time I played around with my roomie's fancy camera and had my "new" shirt as the object.

Gone.

Home is where the heart is. So then, at the moment my heart is at two places, with my family and with my love. I'm back to Delhi now and life is back on a routine. Today was the first day of the 3rd Semester and the first day for me in my department, an official Fashion Design student. Feels good writing that out. :)

Insta-Summer

Woah. It's been two months already since I got home. Time goes so fast when you don't keep track of it.
I think my summer vacation this time has been one of the best so far, being my first summer as a college student helped. HeHe... I'm finally going back to Delhi day after. Excited? Yes. Although I'm gonna miss my dog and home-cooked meal a lot, family and friends aside.
Here is a glimpse of my Summer 2013 through my Instagram posts:

Church is one of the places I'm gonna miss the most here. The Mizo Synod church has been like my abode.

Twinkle Twinkle

Staring at my pics for this post the epic nursery rhyme plays in my mind,

Twinkle Twinkle little Star,
How I wonder what you are!
Up above the World so high,
Like a diamond in the sky!
Twinkle Twinkle little Star,
How I wonder what you are!

Have you ever heard of an instance where the LBD went wrong? Rarely.
This Sunday I went for the ultimate safest and bare minimum dressing- the LBD and the nudes.

Here are few takes of the vintage with a twist.

Daddy's Princess in a Puanropui

Happy Father's Day to all the daddy/s reading my blog, though I doubt there are any. LoL.
This Sunday I decided to go all traditional, and hence the Mizo Puanropui. In Lushai (Mizo) language, Puan refers to cloth (here, to the woven cloth worn around the lower body), and Ropui refers to Great/Majestic. Therefore, Puanropui would literally mean "The Majestic Cloth". Sounds grand eh?

The "Appropriate" Sunday

Throwback Sunday.
Every society expects it's female folks to dress "appropriately" for church services or puja, Mizo society is one of them. In Mizoram, specially, girls have always been asked to wear the traditional "puan" in order to maintain the "ambiance" of a church. Time's changed certain rigidity though, if not much in Mizoram then elsewhere atleast.
I've grown up in Guwahati and now studying in Delhi, so for me, there has been no such pressure demanding me to wear the heavy and expensive traditional wrap-around every Sunday.
There has been times, when I was 16-17yrs, that I wanted to wear them so much because it made me look "mature" and people can take us seriously then. But then came a phase when I opted to wear skirts a few inches higher than the knee, just to look hip. Now, I'm in my normal "grown-up" self, learning more tricks to dress comfortably, without hurting any religious sentiments and yet being stylish even in church.

Call me Whatever.

Heya people.
Want to know what's cooking? Well, it's been a busy week. Helped my brother in school admissions, catching up with old friends, boyfriend in town, and everything else. So, unsurprisingly I'm always at a dilemma of what to wear. I didn't bring much clothes from Delhi because the stupid air-crafts reduced their luggage capacity per person. This made me dig up my old and "unwanted" clothes left in Guwahati and make use of them again.

Hello Summer

Heyo people. It's a long time no see eh? I'm back home in Guwahati, away from the harsh sun in Delhi.

Mommy Diaries

My mom needs no introduction to the regular readers here :) She's always been there since the first post "Alpha" where almost all my stuffs were hers, also see "Mom's closet".
My mom's name is Lalthlamuani Hmar. Friends and dear ones call her "Tepuii".
My relationship with my mom, if drawn on a graph would look like an Aztec print with a sudden shoot in last line raising high up above. Mom is not the most expressive human alive. She has this hard shell around her. What you can see is only 1/10th of who she actually is. She's the strongest yet the most vulnerable woman I've ever known, beating all the characters I've read or heard about in movies or books too.

The Short Hair Story

You know what the real Summertime Sadness for girls is? The Hair.
--> If long, very hot and always pony can be boring. Have to invent new hair-tying ideas every now and then. Time-consuming.
--> Oil. Hair tends get oily fast and also sweaty. Everyday washing? Dry Hair. Not washing? Dirty Hair.
Phew, get me out of this mess!!! Oh wait, How about I chop it off?
Head goes.... Not so easy darling, remember what they say about boys loving long hair? Or the society considering it "inappropriate" for girls as the "feminine" factor is lost?

I don't wanna be too old school here. Of course there have been a lot of girls breaking the barrier, chopping off the beautiful mane, leaving the girlfriends go, "Awwww... what a waste... I miss your long hair!", as if they were the one looking after it! But face it, even the ones who chopped off thought about it a lot of times before actually doing it. Let's hear about what these two very good friends of mine have to say about the "change".

Spring Treat

Well, I do not have much to write. My life these days is hectic, tiring and tough. The only thing that can brighten my mood is the bright clothes. This is one outfit I styled last week.

Holi-ness

Heyo people.
How's life? A lot has been going on in mine. Finished exams and everything, me and my friends finally found the perfect house after days of searching, so I'm typically busy with all of these. I'll let you know more about the house later.
Holi, the festival of colors have started today, the big one being tomorrow. I'm already paranoid at the whole idea of colors violently splashing on us and the animals. I'm personally not very fond of the festival because of the whole idea of getting into a mess. Even today, I had to take all the way round to the back gate and take an auto back home from college because some of our friends were eagerly waiting for us outside the main-gate with all their equipment of mass destruction.

Me and Accessories

My relationship with accessories date way back in the early 2000s.
When I was in my 5th standard I took part in a school cultural dance, where we performed Dandiya, a Rajasthani folk dance. We had to wear beautiful Ghagras and heavy jewelery. At that time, I still had the typical round gold earrings, the very ones used to pierce my ears when I was only months old. I had a hard time convincing my mom I wanted real gold no more. I wanted to wear the fancy one-thus the start of a near addiction.
I became obsessed with earrings, although my mom didn't buy me much, I got them as gifts a lot. Maybe people knew it was the safest thing to give me as I'd like it anyway. I still own about 25 pair of "wearable" earrings now.

Letter to Mom-Dad.

8th March, 2013.

Dear Nunu and Papa,
I thank Jesus Christ today for keeping you together. Keeping you one.
Life can be dyslexic because there is not enough words to describe how difficult it is. Every step we take is a big milestone when it's not just for yourself, but for the family too. Together you handle Life beautifully.
Growing up between you for 18 years has taught me a lot. All these years, I've seen how cruel circumstances can be, I've seen that people no matter how many years you've lived with them, always have the "other side" you've never seen, I've seen how much courage one has to have just go do something you think is right even when the other disagrees. But in between all this I see a bigger picture- the Selfless Love you have for each other.

Dad, I love how you put up with the silly remarks and petty arguments just to irritate mom because you love it when she reacts disgustedly. I love the way you appreciate it when mom cooks the dinner more than anyone else. Maybe it's the ingredient Love that makes it more delicious to you even when it's all same to us. I know you love her, dad, It shows. You can not bear the thought of her leaving you alone, by choice or by fate.

Instagram-ing Away...

Whatsuuupppp folks?! *Grin*
Delhi's temperature is soaring, seems like the rise in the price of petrol have a direct influence. LoL. Now,  I can't effort to waste a day without all my knitted clothes, can I?
These days I'm hooked to Instagram. Loving the fact that I get the latest post by my favorite bloggers asap. Willabelle of Pale Division is my current favorite.

Pretty Bracelets- The Sleepover Gallery

No feminist would deny the fact that sleepovers are every girl's sanctuary of fun and peace.

Hola. I know I've been off of late. And you know exactly what to blame on don't you? Heehaw.
Well, here I am now, to show you the glimpses of the sleepover I promised you weeks back. Better late than never.

I missed my guitar so much, this was an orgasmic moment.

I remember we had a very tiring week the weekend we decided to sleepover at Janaki's apartment, Central Park in Gurgaon. For students living in a PG, me and Amelia, that is, a sleepover was the ultimate dream- A proper spacious house, television, spacious bathroom and to top it all, good food. Janaki's mom spoilt us with the dinner and breakfast.

Only One

First of all, there is no connection between the name of the Post and the actual content. I'm in short of words because of lack of practice. So, not much to say tonight. I'll just take you through my day via the pictures.

In the metro, on my way to Janpath, Sonal clicked this photo of my shiny new shoes I bought yesterday. Bought these floral pants too. *grin*

Creativity Never Knocks

Closet Poop-->Creativity

Have you ever noticed? The best of your ideas or designs, in our case, pops up when we least expect? For some it pops when we are busy attending nature's call and for some in the church, "listening" to the pastor's sermon.
This happened to me in a rather understandable situation comparatively though. Sleepover. Yes! You knew it, right? One of the most exciting part of sleeping over at a friend's place is RAIDING THE CHLOOOOSSEEETTT!!! hAGAGAHAHA... *Geez, I'm getting hyper now*

The Bohemian spirit rules.

I see Spring

Winter's almost over,
and so are sorrows left behind.
Winter's almost over,
and Spring will shine divine.
May the love birds fall in love,
Yet again, with the colors.
May 'em girls play with 'em dress,
and hold all the glory...
---Meeee!!! ...lol
I'm so excited for Spring, words can't even express. I'm already experimenting with my Sundresses and Maxis ignoring the cold weather. Haha..
Here are some of the first tips I have up in my sleeves for ya'll...

Back to Basics

When confused, go back to basics.
Well, in my case, it was the opposite. Hola amigos! The day before,  me and my friend were having this conversation about how people shop. While some stuck to basics, some tend to buy statements only. Same goes in styling. I fall into the latter category. I find it extremely difficult to buy myself a pair of jeans or even a T-shirt. So, this friend challenged me to wear basics to college the next day and look "normal" for once.
I took up the challenge. The day after I arrive in college like this-

Season's Ending...

Red won't be the same anymore.
The color Red has such a big significance in this season. If we see a friend wearing red our immediate reaction, "Hey, you're looking so Christmas-y!" Strange thing, this barely happens during the rest of the year. Well, except, of course on the V-day.
This red cardigan is my mom's. I don't think you'll even be surprised with that by now. Har har!

Ray of Hope

Light of the world, You step down into darkness,
Open my eyes, let me see,
Beauty that makes this heart adore you,
Hope of a Life spent with You...

The festive season is already over and it's time to get our feet back on tracks. However, all that we learnt and experienced in these weeks should not be left aside but instead be inculcated. Sermons in church and all the hymns sung always leave an inner peace.

Welcome 2013.

Kumthar Chibai vek ule.
A very Happy New Year to all!
The only predictability about Life is it's unpredictable nature. This new year has brought different emotions to different people.  Some lost, some gained. However, the most important thing is we made it to another year.
New hopes. New dreams. New Opportunities. We ought to make the best of what is been given to us. That is going to make all the difference.
Well, I have made no New Year Resolution officially, although I do have a few things I would like to keep in mind and change the way it had been last year.
Fashion-wise, I'm taking small leaps and try to make me more daring and confident to pull off all the looks that had been hovering my mind. I think 31st evening was a good start.
